Not all international partnerships contribute to the empowerment of the people and communities on whose behalf they work to bring about social justice. Based on a thoughtful analysis of current theoretical approaches and the presenter’s experiences in international social work and missions, this audio conference workshop will explore ways to develop effective faith-based international partnerships that offer more than just aid, but also empowerment of the persons who live in these communities and nations.

Learning Objectives

As a result of participating in this audio conference workshop:

  • Participants will gain knowledge and understanding of the breadth and depth of international social work, listing four main areas of international social work practice.

  • Participants will combine faith, ethical and theoretical perspectives to learn specific opportunities and hazards to international social work practice.

  • Participants will gain practical skills for ethical international social work practice and education that are non oppressive.

  • This workshop agenda will include:

  • NACSW, provider #1078, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org, phone: 800-225-6880, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. NACSW maintains responsibility for the program. Social Workers will receive 1.25 continuing education clock hours for participating in this training. It is important for participants to contact their own licensing boards licensing boards to verify that this training meets their requirements for continuing education credit and/or licensure renewal.

    Requirements for Earning Continuing Education Contact Hours:
    Audio Conference Workshops
    : Requirements to earn continuing education contact hours for audio conference workshops include: a) listening in to the two-hour audio conference workshop; b) completing an on-line evaluation of the session; c) receiving a grade of 80% or better on the “open-book” post-workshop quiz developed by the presentation speaker. Session participants who meet these requirements will receive a continuing education contact hour certificate from NACSW within 30 days after submitting their post-workshop quiz. Certificates will either be sent out by NACSW as email attachments, or mailed out to session participants.

    Regional Conferences : Requirements for earning continuing education contact hours for regional conferences include: a) being in attendance for the full duration of the regional conference; b) signing in at the beginning of the regional conference on NACSW’s event sign-in sheet; c) completing an evaluation of the regional conference. Regional conference participants who meet these requirements will receive a continuing education contact hour certificate from NACSW within 30 days after the conference is over. Certificates will either be sent out by NACSW as email attachments, or mailed out to conference participants .

    Registration Fee and Refund Policy :The registration fee, applicable to non-members only, covers participation in the full conference session. The additional (optional) $5.00 continuing education fee for non-members covers the application for continuing education contact hours associated with this session. Upon request made via email or telephone up to one week prior to this session, a registrant will receive a full refund (minus a $15 processing fee). No refunds can be provided after this time.

    Grievance Procedure: Any individual who has a complaint regarding any aspect of this audio conference workshop is encouraged to communicate in writing to the executive director of NACSW within 30 days after the conference.
